My Top 250 Favorite Video Games (250-241)

So I messed up and left 10 games off my list of 250. These are actually 250-241. Have edited the other posts!

250.) Bust-A-Move (1994) - Arcade

Developer: Taito

Publisher: Taito

Director: N/A

I almost always play this game when I see an arcade cabinet of it. I really enjoyed Bubble Bobble and I love this style of puzzle games, so really this was made for me.

249.) Until Dawn (2015) - PlayStation 4

Developer: Supermassive Games

Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment

Director: Will Byles, Nik Bowen

You know, I don’t know that this game ever hit the highs that a David Cage/Quantic Dream game hits for me, but I did really enjoy my playthrough of it. I love horror films and this basically touches all the different genres of them, while being an interactive version. I haven’t gone back to it to see how the cheese was made per se, are there different paths through the game, different killers etc., I assume not, but I’ll get around to playing it at some point.

248.) Forza Motorsport 2 (2007) - Xbox 360

Developer: Turn 10 Studios

Publisher: Microsoft Game Studios

Director: N/A

I never really messed with the Gran Turismo series, but Forza I got with the Xbox 360 and it made simulation racing fun for me. It took the aspects of what makes the 360 a good console and adds them to simulation racing. So good!

247.) Earthworm Jim (1994) - Sega CD

Developer: Shiny Entertainment Eurocom

Publisher: Playmates Interactive Entertainment

Director: N/A

Don’t really know that you could fully understand Earthworm Jim without having been there. It was kind of the video game version of Ren & Stimpy and then ended up getting a cartoon of it’s own. For how big it was, it’s a little sad how quickly the franchise died and how little it’s remembered to this day! Was a pretty fun game, the sequel was okay too.

246.) The Simpsons (1991) - Arcade

Developer: Konami

Publisher: Konami

Director: N/A

I understand The Simpsons is something that’s still around, but it’s cultural relevance isn’t what it once was. The Simpsons was huge when this game was around and this is probably the best Simpsons game from that era.

245.) Tetris Effect: Connected (2020) - XSX

Developer: Monstars, Resonair

Publisher: Enhance Games

Director: Takashi Ishihara

Been awhile since I’ve found a Tetris game that I’ve really enjoyed and man, this game is awesome. Love the backgrounds, though of course you’re playing Tetris, so you’re not entirely focused on them. Love the boss battles and the multiplayer aspect of the game. Just an awesome version of Tetris.

244.) Halo 2 Anniversary (2014) - Xbox One

Developer: Saber Interactive, Certain Affinity

Publisher: Microsoft Studios

Director: N/A

Out of the mainline Halo games, 2 is my least favorite. That said, the cutscenes, done by Blur, in the anniversary edition of this game are insane. I don’t have a problem with the switch between the Chief and Arbiter, the cutscenes actually make me like playing the Arbiter levels and you have to respect the legacy of the online mode and what it meant to gaming. That’s not to say I don’t like the game of course, it’s making this list, the original Halo trilogy is just so great and I think Halo 2 Anniversary is the best version of the game.

243.) Neko Atsume (2014) - iOS

Developer: Hit-Point

Publisher: N/A

Director: N/A

The epitome of this list, is Neko Atsume a better game than the games that have been on this list already? No. But that’s not what this list is about. It’s about what each game gave me and meant to me and the fun of Neko Atsume is so addicting. I actually played the game before it was released in America, trying to navigate the Japanese menus was uh, interesting. It’s such a charming game though.

242.) Star Wars: Dark Forces (1995) - PlayStation

Developer: LucasArts

Publisher: LucasArts

Director: N/A

Wish there were more games like this now, where Dark Forces is basically a Doom clone, it’s a great Doom clone. A really fun game.

241.) NFL Blitz (1997) - Nintendo 64

Developer: Midway Games, EA Sports

Publisher: Midway Games, EA Sports

Director: N/A

Most simulation based sports games are lost on me now, there’s a level of detail to them that while I appreciate, it just doesn’t connect to me. Blitz is the opposite of that. Short quarters. Ridiculous plays. So. Much. Fun.
