Star Wars Legends vs. "Canon"

Image
Okay, so one thing I'd like to get started on in 2021 is making my way through Star Wars Canon. Plan to watch Episode I & II, then The Clone Wars movie and series, then Rebels & Rogue One, Episodes 4-6, The Mandalorian and then Episodes 7-9 and whatever else comes down the line. Also  I'm going to be working my way through the Legends books, the series of novels that ran from the 1990's to when Disney purchased Lucasfilm (and Star Wars) in 2012. Then I want to contrast that with the novels that came out after, the rebooting of Star Wars canon and compare the two. So I'm following the guidelines of the podcasts Tapcaf Transmissions (for Legends) and Star Wars: New Canon Book Club (for Canon). So I'm starting with: For Legends and... For Canon. As I read them, I'll probably post a little review and ranking of each Canon and keep track of this all as best as I can. Knowing me, I'll probably abandon this little project soon, but hey, what can ya do?

Disney Removing Magical Express and Extra Magic Hours

https://www.wdwinfo.com/walt-disney-world/the-disney-bubble-burst-its-time-to-stop-giving-them-a-pass/ I love Walt Disney World. I mean my screenname comes from a WDW themed podcast. I've spent, almost half my life at this point researching the place and spending time with loved ones there. Some of my favorite moments of my life have taken place there. I completely agree with this article. I really like Lou Mongello, I love his passion and enthusiasm for the parks, but I watched his video and the way he was like, Well we need to look at this from Disney's perspective, no no no. The benefits and perks of staying on property at a Disney resort, soaking in the Disney magic from the moment you step off the plane. The ability to not have to go to baggage claim, to get on the bus, go to your resort and then hit the parks and your bags be waiting in your room when you get back, all of that added to the "Disney magic".  I was just listening to a Retro WDW podcast this week ...

Loss & Revenge During a Pandemic (My thoughts on The Last of Us Part II)

Image
*Okay - So first, sorry about the format issues, I tried my best, but I'm not liking Blogger/Blogspot when it comes to editing. Second I get the anger and resentment of this game. It’s a game with specific scenes that are made to get a strong reaction from it’s audience. I felt that when I saw the initial leaks. But if you provided death threats to Neil Druckmann or Laura Bailey, anything anti-semitic or homophobic, please go away, I don’t want your readership and I hope you find something that makes you happy in life and takes away all the hate in your heart. Lastly - SPOOOOOOOOOOOILERS. Do not read if you haven’t played The Last of Us Part II. I basically recap the game. “Everyone I have cared for, has either died, or left me. Everyone e- fucking except for you. So don’t tell me that I would be safer with someone else, because the truth is I would just be more scared.” The above is said by the character Ellie, to her would-be adopted father Joel, in the 2013 PlayStation 3 game,...

My Top 10 Favorite UFC Fights of 2020

Image
With the UFC getting ready to kick off for 2021 this coming weekend, I wanted to take a look back at 2020. So, we all know because of Covid-19 how crappy 2020 was. But man. As a fight fan. As a UFC fan, in spite of the fact that we only got one Conor McGregor fight (my favorite fighter), in spite of the fact that we only got one Khabib fight, one Jon Jones fight, NO Nate Diaz fights and only one Jorge Masvidal fight, we had an amazing, amazing year as fight fans. The bubbles of the UFC's Apex Center and Fight Island in Abu Dhabi kept me very, very entertained this year. We had several rising stars; first of all the UFC. Their ratings have never been better, they clearly laid the path for other sports leagues to be able to resume after Covid-19 hit the world and they really don't get enough credit for that. Going to the athletes though, Bobby Green, who was amazing in the Octagon and off, his interviews were must see stuff. Deiveson Figueiredo, igniting a very stagnant and dorma...
