State of Haunted: A Noir Series

Hi everyone! Wanted to update the readers to where the series is at and where it's going. As I speak, I've written through the sixth story in the series, feature complete and I'm fairly happy with where the story is at and where it is headed. I've noticed a drop-off in interaction with the series, both social media engagement as well as sales, I'm sure there's a variety of reasons for that. Up until now, the plan has been to release one story every three months and my thought about this is readers have felt a little inundated by this, feeling too much of the content has been thrown at them, particularly as I'm also now marketing a kindle vella story as well. My thought is maybe readers have seen too much of my work on their timelines? So moving forward, I've decided to scrap the quarterly format of the series and switch to a once a year release. Son, releasing on January 1st, 2022 will be the last quarterly release of Haunted: A Noir Series. After that,

Hi all! It's that time of the year, where my sister Brittany and I play video games for 24 hours for charity. As always our chosen charity is Ascension Via Christi and specifically helps sick children. If you're able to help out the link to that will be at the bottom of the page here. So this year, Brittany and I are going to start and end with a co-op game, then after our first co-op game we're going to alternate 2 hour shifts.  When: November 6th-7th 8AM-8AM Schedule 8AM-10AM - Back 4 Blood (Xbox One/Xbox Series X) - Co-op 10AM-12PM - Mass Effect (Xbox One) - Brittany 12PM-2PM - Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 (Xbox Series X) - Doug 2PM-4PM -  A.I.: The Somnium Files (Xbox One) - Brittany 4PM-6PM -  Titanic: Adventure Out of Time (PC) - Doug 6PM-8PM -  Hades (Xbox One) - Brittany 8PM-10PM -  Uncharted: The Lost Legacy (PlayStation 4) - Doug 10PM-12AM -  Code Vein (Xbox One) - Brittany 12AM-2AM -  Resident Evil: Village (Xbox Series X) - Doug 2AM-4AM - Fable 2 (Xbox On

Okay, I know what you're thinking! Actually, I don't. If, however, you're asking yourself, what's a straight white male from the middle of America doing writing a romance novel starring a female character and not attaching a pen name to the novel, when so far in this novelists career he is known for a horror/noir novella series, then maybe this blog entry will help answer that particular question.     The Truth of the matter is this: I don't want to be restricted by genre when it comes to my writing. I don't want to be known as the horror writer guy, the corner of the room that so many writers get backed into. For me, nothing annoys me more in media, than to see an author, actor, director, game creator etc., be backed into a corner and only be required to work in that and only that, specific corner they've been successful in. I love seeing artists take chances. Not every one hits, there's plenty of misses, but when they do they can make something r

Book Review: Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke (2021) - Eric LaRocca

I said on twitter and I'll say it here, I think Eric LaRocca is a welcome, talented addition to the horror indie scene and I can't wait to see what is next.  So "Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke" is a pretty evocative title to me. It brings together many images in my head and I'll say that the actual novella slightly lives up to these images. A similar title and I've seen other people make this comparison, that evokes similar feelings and images for me is "I'm Thinking of Ending Things", which is on my To-Read docket and will be done fairly soon. As for THGWSWLS it takes place in the year 2000, at the dawn of the internet age. At the heart of the novel are two LBTQ lesbian characters, Agnes and Zoe and their interactions an LBGT message board and then subsequently a chat program similar to AOL Instant Messenger or Yahoo Messenger, though I don't think it's ever specified which, could be wrong on that. The story is told in an e
